Better known as “Rupo”
Having coached the club’s junior divisions for four years, Brad Pietromonaco worked his way up the ranks to become the president in 2016. “We’ve got a very structured junior competition and it’s so great to see the juniors stick together through Rupo, so we find they know how to play together and this strengthens our senior division,” says Brad.
“We’re also located on private land at Salesian College, so there’s a lot of heritage and history between the College and the football club,” he says.
From humble beginnings in 1984, a single U16 football team named “Salesian” was formed, comprised mainly of boarding students from the Salesian College. As the Sunbury township grew, and player numbers increased, the Rupertswood Football Club was formed.
Rupo relies greatly on the dedication of volunteers and the support of internal fundraising and events. It’s this level of mateship and teamwork that shapes Rupo and its community spirit is one of the club’s most recognised characters across the district.
