Tucked away in Old Bakery Walk, as though straight out of Harry Potter, is where you find Board Game Goblin.

Born in 2017, the shop quickly formed a community of gamers and hobbyists. But do not expect to find a single screen inside, for the games here are played at the table. It was thanks to the community, explains the owner Luke, the shop survived the lockdowns.

The shelves are chock full of all sorts of board games, from family favourites to kids games (think “Spot It!”), party games and solo games, the list goes on with lots of quirky titles to browse.

There are, of course, card games like “Exploding Kittens” and “Cards Against Humanity”. Puzzles make a great gift for the right person, how about “Uluru Sunset Puzzle”?

The accessories section is filled with dice sets, game mats and other gaming paraphernalia. If you are a fan of the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game, look no further.

Board Game Goblin also sells paints for miniature wargames, like Warhammer. Warhammer sets can be purchased at the shop and are very popular. One of the three weekly workshops is Warhammer Wednesday, where you can test your painted prized possessions in a battle
with like minded players.

The other two workshops are Friday Night Magic and Saturday Night Games. Most are free to attend and there is a massive library of games that are free to play at the shop. If you have a query about anything tabletop game related then Luke is your guy.
